SAVE THE DATES for VBS 2008 at First Church!  I hope you have been thinking and praying about your involvement in this year’s VBS program.  It promises to be another action-packed, fun-filled week.  Plans are taking shape, but we are still looking for YOU to help us make it another successful year.  Serving as co-directors this year are Marsha Mower, Maureen Ruski and Ashley Lofland.  We have a few people that have already committed to join us, but will need lots of additional help to make this a wonderful experience for all involved.  As we did the past 3 years, we want to make this a church-wide endeavor, involving as many people and ministries as possible.  We are committed to reaching out to children in our church family and the community.  So, don’t miss out on this opportunity to be involved!

 

Areas of need include:  Adult Leaders Wacky Works Crafts & Missions and Test Tube Treats: Assistants for Squeaky Beakers (preschool), CInema Science (aka Chadder's), Wacky Works Crafts & Missions, Hyperspeed Games, Test Tube Treats;  Crew Leaders and Assistants (Jr/Sr High) to shuttle the children through the events each evening; Sound/Projection; Lab Store helpers; Registration; Set/Decorations coordinator and helpers; Volunteer Meals helpers; Picnic Coordinator and helpers .  We will need help with set-up July 19 and take-down July 27. 

 

Monetary donations are always a blessing to help defray costs.  Last year we served 77 children and are planning for 85 this year.  We anticipate this year’s cost will be approximately $35.00 per week ($7.00 per day), per child.  We want to provide for any and all children that wish to participate this year.  We encourage you to sponsor a child (or children) for this year’s program.  Checks should be made payable to First Congregational Church, with a memo for VBS 2008.

 

Included in the program again is a mission project.  This year, we will purchase GO Balls (Gospel Outreach soccer balls), that will be signed by our Power Lab Crews, prayed over and sent to kids in South Africa, along with a Coaching for Sport...Coaching for Life booklet, in which our crews will draw a picture of themselves.
